Simon GraysonSimon Grayson expects to be without Jack King for up to 10 weeks as the Preston North End’s utility man recovers from a broken foot. King will undergo foot surgery to pin the stress fracture which he sustained in the preseason at Rochdale. The damage to his feet was picked up after he went for a scan when King was complaining of his foot being sore.

“He will need to have it pinned and we are just waiting for the surgeon to give us a date when we can get him in. It’s a blow because he is very versatile and gives us options – during pre-season he played right-back, centre midfield and centre forward, doing very well for us. But knowing Jack he will work very hard to regain fitness and it gives someone else the chance to step in,” said PNE boss Grayson.

Dealing with a broken foot can be a painful ordeal. However, an injury like this can be managed and taken care of by a podiatrist like Dr. James Ricketti of New Jersey.  Dr. Ricketti can examine your broken foot, determine the severity of your injury, and work with you to provide the appropriate treatment options.

Broken Foot Causes, Symptoms, and Treatment

A broken foot is caused by one of the bones in the foot ‘breaking’, or fracturing. Bones typically break when the bone is either bended, crushed, or stretched beyond its natural capabilities. Usually the location of the fracture indicates how the break occurred, whether it was through an object, fall, or any other type of injury.

Common Symptoms of Broken Feet:

  • Bruising
  • Pain
  • Redness
  • Swelling
  • Blue (foot)
  • Numbness
  • Cold
  • Misshapen
  • Cuts
  • Deformities

Those who are experiencing any of these symptoms, or suspect that they have a broken foot, should seek medical attention in a center where x-rays can be performed. This is especially urgent if any of the symptoms include numbness, blue coloring, cold feet, cuts, misshapen toes or deformities as these indicate more severe cases.
